Providence: A Study in EstherSample

Providence: A Study in Esther

DAY 4 OF 9

What does it say?

The Jewish people were devastated by the news of Haman’s plot. Mordecai urged Esther to approach the king to plead for mercy.

What does it mean?

Fulfilling Mordecai’s request would put Esther’s life on the line. Her courage to act came from knowing that God wanted to use her as part of His plan to rescue His people. She was not queen by accident or coincidence; God had positioned Esther for this very purpose. Mordecai’s faith inspired Esther to remember God’s past faithfulness. She knew the value of seeking God and asked the people of God to join her in fasting and prayer. She took her requests to the King of kings before approaching her earthly king.

How should I respond?

As a follower of Christ, your life has a purpose. Your position and circumstances aren’t coincidence or luck. God wants to use your life as part of His plan. The Lord will accomplish His purpose with or without us. However, He offers us the privilege of joining Him to be a part of something special, and finding the courage to be part of His work results from prayer and spending time in His Word. In what ways has God been asking you to join Him in His work? How are you allowing God to use your position, relationships, or career opportunities? Like Esther, you may very well have been positioned “for such a time as this!”
