Jesus Changes Everything

DAY 1 OF 5

Jesus changes fear.

Being transparent, I’ve probably wrestled with fear most of my life. But, it made a special entrance to my life when I became a dad. Suddenly, I had someone I was responsible for that I loved so much, it made me vulnerable to feelings of imaginary threats and dangers. I’m a work in progress.

So when I read Luke 1:30, and the angel tells Mary, “Don’t be afraid”, I think it is very significant. Mary would have been experiencing a lot of reasons to be afraid.

Confusion.

Unchartered waters.

Change of future she didn’t ask for.

So, how did heaven respond to her humanity? With this confident instruction: Do not be afraid – you have found favour with God.

The starting bookend of the ministry of Jesus is that He meets us at our point of fear and lifts us out of it.

The dispelling of fear from the human heart would become a theme of the ministry of Jesus. Because of Jesus, we should not allow fear to bully us on the playground of life.

I don’t want to live my life in fear. I have asked myself, “How can I win over fear when my future is uncertain?

Fear can be like a heavy blanket – not just fear of an event – a PERSPECTIVE.

To experience and feel fear is normal.

But fear can take over, control, and really produce a lot of unhealthy chemical reactions within our bodies.

Feeling fear is normal. But feeling fear is not the end of my story when problems hit. By faith, I have these 3 things:

1. The Word of God

2. The promises of God.

3. The character of God.

This message is for us today. Jesus is our ultimate solution to fear.
