Hope for School Teachers

DAY 2 OF 5

STUDENTS

Students can be challenging for teachers. They misbehave, test your patience, and outright rebel against your authority. It seems you can never let your guard down, lest they take you for a pushover.

No doubt there are times you wonder if it’s worth it. Perhaps changing to another grade level would be easier—maybe even a different career altogether. Proverbs 22:6 contains a promise we often ascribe to parents: children will one day return to follow the lessons they’ve been taught. But teachers can lean on this truth, too.

In Matthew 10, Jesus said he was sending us out to be shrewd (astute, with good judgment), yet innocent or harmless in sharing the Good News. While you may not be able to directly teach Bible in your classroom, you can ask God to give you creative ideas for covertly communicating these truths to the students God has ordained to be under your tutelage.

What a wonderful thought to realize the Lord has hand-picked each student that’s in your class. And He trusted you enough to choose who should be under your instruction.

You have hope for this task. Rest in the knowledge that God has equipped and trained you for the job. What an honor! What will you do today to strategically integrate God’s precepts into your lesson plans?
