Moments for Mums: Do Your Work - Part 1

DAY 2 OF 3

When my kids were very young, it felt like I was on the brink of utter chaos most of the time. I seemed to be calling on a few of my friends for help quite regularly.

On one such occasion, I remember turning to my friend and saying, “I feel like I’m asking you for help all the time, and I’m not really giving anything back.”

She said, “Now is your time to receive help, and one day you’ll be in a position to help someone else this way.”

That was such a huge encouragement to me, and—surprise, surprise—she was right! Now that my kids are older, I have the gifts of free time, helpful children, and mental clarity to help other mums with young kids.

You might be tempted to look around and see all the amazing gifts others have been given to serve with and wonder what your role is. But in 1 Peter 4:10, we see that good stewardship means using our individual gifts to serve others.

That might not look like other people’s gifts, and in some stages of life, it might not look like much. But we all have our own gifts to use for others in some way.

Question

What gifts has God given you to serve others with at this stage of your life?

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you that you give your people gifts to serve each other. I pray that you would help me to be a good steward of what you’ve given me at this stage of my life. Amen.
