So, back to normal? Never! Not after the birth of such a special baby in such bizarre circumstances. It didn’t seem to have affected him though. He slept well and fed well.

After a week they both felt it was time to take this child to the Temple, as the law stated they should. The ceremony was a way of showing everyone that their baby belonged to God. It was a sign from thousands of years earlier, when God had made his covenant with Abraham.

How ironic that the baby would be seen as belonging to God. He was God! God himself in human form. A tiny, vulnerable baby, newly born.

Of course, his name was the one that the angel had told Mary to give him. He had been very clear about that. It was just as well that Joseph had had a visit from an angel too and that the angel had also told him to name the child Jesus.

Soon, she and Joseph could enjoy being a family with this new baby. Perhaps, after all, life could return to normal?
