Who I Say God IsSample

Who I Say God Is

DAY 6 OF 7

The belly: a god to many

Your average man on the street probably doesn't see himself as an enemy of the cross. He's probably agnostic/apathetic about the cross and just focused on working to earn his crust of bread. That's the problem though: his god is his belly.

If we're just preoccupied about where the next meal is coming from, or where we're getting a takeaway tonight, we betray what our god is. What we see as of ultimate importance is our god.

Many people think life is about eating, drinking, and being merry; burying heads in the sand until inevitable death or Christ's return. That is, though, a blinkered view of life. We need to be reconciled to the God who IS before He judges us either as we deserve or as Christ deserves.

It's so easy, even as God's people, to become preoccupied with the here and now. We need to realign ourselves to be in sync with our Master and Maker. His perspective is what really matters.

'Father God, please help us to synchronise ourselves with Your Spirit. May our focus be the hereafter rather than the here and now, for Your glory, amen.'

Are you too preoccupied with your food? Do you agree that what preoccupies us is our god?
