Meeting With God in the Morning

DAY 4 OF 5

Through the blood of His Son, God so graciously made a way for us to have the opportunity to approach Him. We should be so humbled that he allows us the privilege of approaching His throne.

In the classic book Pilgrim's Progress the main character, Christian, is seeking entrance to heaven and climbs the long and dangerous path with a heavy pack on his back called his burden.

Isn’t this so relatable? Our sin is a burden we carry. It’s heavy and cumbersome and only makes our lives and situations more difficult and complicated. However, we only carry our burden if we choose to. Each day we have the opportunity to come before God and ask His forgiveness.

With our confession, He is faithful and just in forgiveness. In Sacred Rhythms the author writes, “Confession does not lead us to shame or obsession but rather to a sense of cleansing and release,” (Barton, p. 105).

Imagine the feeling of being set free from all the sin that burdens us. It was Anne of Green Gables that said, “Each day is fresh with no mistakes.” This can be the reality we live each and everyday with the forgiveness of sin that comes only from Our Lord. Paul Tripp writes, “Good is not good enough; Complete conformity to Christ’s image is the plan of grace.”

It is only by the presence of God in our lives that we can conform to Christ’s image. Every morning we have the chance to put ourselves in a position to align with Christ. Reach for scripture each morning and use the first minutes of your day to meet with God.

Ask him to conform you into His image and for opportunity to be used according to His plan. Our goal should be to decrease ourselves and increase our God. We cannot respond with a Christ like attitude if we are far from Him.  It is only by the presence of God in our lives that we can conform to Christ’s image. Reach for Scripture each morning and use the first minutes of your day to meet with God. Ask him to
