Do you ever find yourself feeling overwhelmed with all of the bad news and fighting that's happening in the world? It seems like every time we turn around, someone is getting abused, killed, mistreated, marginalized, and pushed aside. We see images of prejudice and racism with defenseless people being attacked in the streets. The news and our social media feed constantly communicate to us people in faraway lands who are starving while trying to survive in countries filled with crime and destruction. 


In those moments, we're left wondering what we should do. Peter, one of Jesus' closest friends, was dealing with a very similar situation when he encouraged us to turn from evil and make peace. If we start anywhere, we have to start here. Turning from evil means being willing to be wrong about certain ideas that may contribute to acts of evil. It means being open to listening to those that are oppressed and see what their needs actually are rather than us assuming what others' needs are. Radical people seek to be agents of change.
