Scripture

God created everything through Him, and nothing was created except through Him. - John 1:3 (NLT)

It can be easy to create without God because He has given us skills and talents to use freely. You don’t have to consult God before singing a song in perfect key, or painting a masterpiece, or even putting together words in an artistic way. When I think about this scripture I think about people who make and manufacture computers. When you run into a problem with your computer you call the manufacturer and have them figure out the issue because they are the ones who created it. Perhaps you would go on their website and find a frequently asked questions section where they answer common questions that will help you get the best out of your machine. We would do this because we assume the person with the best knowledge to fix these items would be the person that created, built and programmed them to begin with. If we apply this concept to ourselves as humans, God is the one who created, built and programmed us, so it would be safe to assume that God knows us best and knows how to get the best out of us. Since God packaged you up with all your gifts, skills and talents, it would be best to consult God when trying to use them. 

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the gifts, skills and talents that you have placed inside me. I ask that You will remind me to create alongside You, and consult You with my every creative decision. Help me to take counsel from You in the morning, afternoon and evening. Lord, let every one of my creations be created through You, and not through my own abilities. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 

Creative Challenge

The challenge this week is to create a single cover and teaser video for your song. Consider your song your official first single, and now you are packaging it up! Keep your single cover a square image (like 6x6 inches), and the teaser video short (ideally 30 seconds). Now get out there and create your week!
