Surviving Dark Seasons: You Are Favored, Not Forgotten

DAY 2 OF 7

Transformational Opportunities

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope

Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV)

Transformational seasons spent in the wilderness of obscurity may seem as if you are being punished or abandoned, but God has never once left you. This is a time of blessing you with healing, breaking off strongholds that have and will hold you down, and gifting you with new supernatural skills needed for the next phase in your life’s journey.

Maybe it doesn’t feel like God is actually doing anything in you. Really, it may feel as though God has completely abandoned you, but there cannot be transformation in you as long as you are holding onto the status quo. Sometimes the truth is, He cannot do anything new in you until He can remove the strongholds in your life that are chaining you in place.

And although God has plans to help you prosper and to give you hope, it is still up to you to claim them. Grasping desperately on to the ties that bind you to where you are will not free you to move into where He wants you to be. It’s natural to feel this way, and that is why God uses the supernatural process of obscurity to move us along the path toward transformation.

One of the secrets to not only surviving, but thriving is obscurity is understanding that while it may feel like God has put you on ice, He is actually cooling your jets before activating your anointing. Having your gifts come to fruition is often prompted by a seemingly disconnected action. Jesus the man had an anointing on His life from the very beginning, but His ministry didn’t begin until He was about thirty years old.

Those first years weren’t spent raising the dead and turning water into wine. Instead, they were spent developing physically, spiritually, and acquiring the skills that would be needed to relate to people while sharing His gospel. God’s protection in obscurity allowed Jesus’s anointing to become refined until it was time to activate it with His baptism.

Concerning your spiritual growth process, transformation occurs not by chronological age but through supernatural maturation. Each phase of elevated understanding requires that God impart something new in you. And guess where that gifting is imparted? Yep, you guessed it. In seasons of obscurity. I don’t want to oversimplify it with a comparison of a caterpillar to butterfly, but there is a spiritual metamorphosis in your progress. Get ready to spread your wings and fly!

CALL TO ACTION:
