DAY 2 OF 3

THE IMPORTANCE OF GUARDING YOUR HEART

Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. (Proverbs 4:23)

The heart that we are talking about here is not the liver in our body or the organ in our body that pumps blood to our body. The heart here talks about our real life. It's about our feelings, thoughts, emotions, and spirit. God saw a man named David when He was about to choose a king to replace Saul. Why David? Because God did not see the appearance or physical stature of David that was small and young; man looks at the outward appearance, but the Look looks at the heart.

Lord Jesus once conveyed a message that what is unclean is not what goes into our mouths but what comes out of our mouths. It is not about the food that goes into our mouths, but about the words that come out of our mouths or what is on our minds.

The heart is the center of our decisions. Making a wrong decision will cost and destroy us. This is the reason why it is so important to take care of this heart. We will be careful and vigilant when we are carrying valuable items such as money, jewelry, and other important documents. Likewise, we need to be vigilant. Do not open the door of our heart carelessly. The one who guards the heart is the one who trains himself and disciplines his words. Proverbs writes, “Let our words be like apples of gold in settings of silver.” Let our words be spoken at the right time.

The heart is a human’s lamp. Let our hearts be filled with the words of God.
