The Perfect You

DAY 5 OF 9

A One-Foot Journey to the Perfect You

God invites you on a one-foot journey. It’s a journey from head to heart. Right now, you may tend to live from your “headspace” and all the thoughts currently in there. The current version of your thinking can run your life.

You let it run the way you do marriage. You let it run the way you do relationships. You let it run the way you do your listening and your communication. God calls you to live from another place, not merely from your head but from your heart.

However, this one-foot journey becomes difficult if you believe your heart is untrustworthy. This journey from head to heart becomes nearly impossible if you believe your heart is dirty, sinful, and even distant from God.

You need to inquire of the God of the universe concerning the nature of your new-hearted self.

Is your heart still sinful, dirty, wicked, and wrong? Or, through new birth, has your heart been made new and right and blameless? And if so, what implications does this have for you as you take this one-foot journey from head to heart and begin living from your core?

• the one-foot journey to a better life

• the one-foot journey to better communication

• the one-foot journey to better relationships

Sometimes, we seek to relate to others via our “headspace” alone. We only employ our gray matter. In arguing, we try to prosecute the other person with evidence of why we’re right and they’re wrong.

We seek to win . . . and then everybody loses.

We seek to win, and the marriage loses. We seek to win, and the church loses. We seek to win, and the friendship loses. Why? Because we’re operating from our current mental understanding of how to cope and make life work instead of living from the heart.

Your heart is a safe place for you. It is where Christ lives. God cleaned house. Then, He moved in. He is trustworthy. And as the new self, so are you!
