The Growth of Faith

DAY 2 OF 5

LET’S END IT WELL

The Bible tells us that Saul, who was known later as Paul, was a persecutor of believers (Phil 3: 6). With his zeal, he had put a lot of stress and pain on the early churches. However, the encounter with the Lord Jesus miraculously changed him. Drastically, he was changed from a bloodthirsty persecutor to a faithful servant who shed blood until the end of his life.

All of us have a past. Those long past times could be beautiful, mundane, or even dark. Whatever our past conditions are, they do not affect our present submission to the Lord. Our life journey changes when we believe and accept Christ as our Lord. Our personality is renewed day by day through our various spiritual experiences. We can live and become better individuals with the help of the Holy Spirit who is given to us as a Helper.

We may have a bad, even dark past. In the past, we may have enjoyed living in the dark sin. We may have cheated, been addicted to drugs, lived in the world of night, pleasures, and so on. We may have become victims of domestic violence, victims of rejection, victims of divorce, and so on. These experiences do not become a significant barrier for us. God has saved us for His work. God still expects us to grow in faith and knowledge of Him. He still wants us to be fruitful for Him.

We cannot change how we begin our lives. That is the past. Whatever it is, the most important thing for us is to live our lives better because of our faith in Christ. What matters is how we can end our race of faith in a way that is appropriate for believers.

Today’s devotional

1. How is our past? Is it beautiful, bad, hard, or dark? Does it get in the way of our step of faith now?

2. How do we live our lives towards the finishing line?

Today’s actions

Make the past a lesson to become a better person now and in the future.
