When it comes to opening or using a new item, there are two types of people in the world: those who read the instructions before they get started and those who dive right in hoping for the best. I think we can all agree that often the second way can lead to a lot of confusion or even getting some steps wrong. Sometimes people who follow Jesus take the same approach. How can we gain the reputation of truly loving others if we skip over learning from his example of loving the forgotten, the lonely, the hurting? Today, spend some time thinking about 1 John 5:2. Try to commit the verse to memory. Let it remind you that God has shown us what it looks like to love and follow His lead.
