Struggle & Triumph | Who God Says I AmSample

Struggle & Triumph | Who God Says I Am

DAY 7 OF 11

I Am Blameless

“But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation ...” Colossians 1:22

Millions from around the world tuned in to the Champions League Final last Summer as the Liverpool goalkeeper mishandled the ball for the second time, resulting in a goal. Real Madrid went on to win the match 3-1. In the wake of the third goal, the announcer shouted, “It’s a nightmare evening for Loris Karius,” Liverpool’s goalkeeper.

Is there something you have done or said that gives you that sting of regret every time it comes to mind?

Maybe you’ve cheated in a game, hurt a teammate or lied to get ahead. Maybe you missed an open-net game-winning shot with seconds left on the clock or gave up three goals during the championship, and it feels like your entire team or country blames you for the loss.

Maybe it feels like no matter where you go, you can not shake the weight of regret, sadness, and disappointment.

What if someone came up to you and told you that you were going to be given a fresh start, as if all of those shortcomings never happened. You would no longer be seen as guilty and flawed.

Instead, you would be seen as completely innocent and blameless. This person, out of love, will carry the weight of everything you have ever done and everything you will ever do. He or she offers to become the one that everyone blames in your place so that you could be set free.

This. This is what Jesus did for you and me on the cross to pay for our misdeeds. He died and took the weight of our sin on Himself so that our relationship with God could be restored when we put our faith and trust in Him.

Once enemies of God, now He offers us a place at His table for all of eternity.

Jesus was the only one who could take our sins upon Himself since He, God’s Son, became a man and lived a perfect life, holy and completely faultless.

Because of Jesus, we no longer have to try and prove ourselves worthy. Through a relationship with Jesus, we are given a completely new life, so no matter what our past, present or future looks like, God remembers our misdeeds no more.

Application: Take a moment to thank God that He sees you as blameless! Now take a moment to remind yourself of that fact and how it can release you from shame or guilt.
