Fight Week

DAY 6 OF 7

Jesus takes prayer pretty seriously. You have probably read throughout the gospels that Jesus would often take time to get alone and pray. But he didn’t always do this alone. The night he was arrested, he gathered his inner circle together (his disciples), and he asked them to pray for him. Why did he do this? Jesus didn’t want to fight the battle all alone. He desired to have a community of people praying for him, as he was dealing with the hardest struggle of his life.

There is nothing worse than feeling isolated and alone when you are going through the roughest parts of life. Yes, you may cry out to Jesus. But there is something extremely special about some of your closest friends gathering around you and praying for you. You are able to live with so much more confidence knowing you are being prayed for throughout the week. You are able to be way more vulnerable with each other, if you know the people listening to your deepest struggles wouldn’t judge you, but they would actually pray for you!

Prayer is an essential part of relationships. No, you don’t have to be in prayer for hours on end, but your intimacy will grow with Jesus and people as you pray.

Questions:

When was the last time you stopped and prayed for someone in person? Why is it hard for you to pray for others?

When you are going through tough seasons, do you share about it? When you share, do you desire to be prayed over?
