Stay Fresh

DAY 4 OF 6

Time to Talk

Yesterday, you learned about coming back home. When we sin, it’s like we’ve left our Father God’s loving care. When we decide to return to God, which is repentance, we find He was waiting for us with open arms. Repentance leads to forgiveness! A fresh start.

But did you know there’s another step? There is. And this step leads to a deepening of healing.

Watch this video for some big stuff from a tiny book on the topic of accountability.

And there you have it! Talking to others is super, super important.

We repent and come to God for forgiveness. We open up, confess, and become accountable to others for healing.

What a fantastic way to get fresh and stay fresh!

Ask yourself: Yesterday, you asked yourself this question: What’s a sinful choice I’ve made that I feel ashamed of or try to hide? Today, take it a step further and answer this question: Who can I open up to about that so it doesn’t grow anymore—and so I can get some accountability to help me never make that choice again? Some examples could be a parent, a teacher, or a friend who also follows Jesus.

Challenge yourself: Give yourself no more than seven days. Within those seven days, have a talk with the person you identified as a trustworthy person you can open up to in the “Ask yourself” question above. Ask them if they will be your accountability partner. Either let them know about a sin you’re trying to overcome (like lying, having a bad attitude, sneaking, or whatever), or let them know they’re someone you’d like to come to in the future if you need help working through something.

Pray: God, thank You for asking us to walk with one another in this life. Help me to find someone this week who can be my accountability partner. Help me to be someone other people can come to when they need prayer and encouragement, too. In Jesus’ name, amen.
