Lose the lie: “I’ll never get over my past.”

You’ve been there … you have made your New Year’s Resolutions to lose maybe 10 or more pounds. How about that awkward place of not telling your true weight for your driver’s license? It seems like every day and as we get older, we’re further away from our goals.

Have you ever had the desire for good health, but failed to achieve them? How about the cute little dress in the storefront window or that slim pair of pants you covet when looking online? You want it but can’t stick with an eating plan long enough to get a healthy body. How about that glossy covered edited image that looks so confident and flawless from your favorite magazine?

Do you wonder if you’ll ever get past your past?

Many times we’re held back by our insecurities, those muffin tops which spill over our waistline, or the all-too-familiar unforgiving slinky black dress that whispers despising comments from the back of your closet. Wouldn’t you like to be free?

For years my past full of insecurities kept me from achieving any long-term goal. But now, I can say God did a miracle in my life! Losing over 100 pounds is no small feat. I can say with confidence, that if I can do it, so can you. God will help you. If you’re reading this right now and have longed to be free from any kind of oppressive behavior or the dysfunction of your past, then I’m here to remind you, don’t give up. When you accept the fact that your true identity includes being an overcomer, you will never settle for less than a miracle.

Gain God’s truth: Don’t be intimidated by your insecurities any longer. Don’t let those past labels haunt you. And don’t let the shout of shame shove you into another corner.
