Sidekicks for Jesus

Daniel’s friends, John’s parents, Elisha, Mary and Martha, and Hannah—all of these people were used by God in some way. They might have been “sidekicks” in the stories, but they played an important role. And when they obeyed God and trusted Him, amazing things happened!

The same is true for us. We might not think that we’re special. Maybe you think that you’re too young for God to use you. But that’s not true! No matter where you live, what you do, or how old you are—God can use you if you let Him. If you obey Him. If you trust Him. 

Jesus is the Superhero of the world. He saved all of us from our sins and if we choose to believe in Him, we get to live with Him in heaven one day. Nothing we can do will ever measure up to that amazing, heroic, and sacrificial act of love. 

But when we believe in Jesus and trust in Him, we can be sidekicks to our awesome Superhero. We can make a difference in our part of the world by introducing people to Jesus so that they can believe in Him too. 

So what about you? What can you do as Jesus’ sidekick today? 

Family focus:

• If you haven’t believed in Jesus as your savior and you want to, say the following prayer to invite Him into your life: “Dear Jesus, I know I’m a sinner. I’m sorry for when I’ve done things that You wouldn’t want me to do. Please forgive me. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins so that I can live in heaven with You one day. I invite You to come into my life. Help me to obey and trust You every day. I love you, Jesus. Amen.”


• If you already believe in Jesus, look for ways that you can trust and obey Him each day. Ask Jesus to show you how to be His sidekick in your family, church, school, neighborhood, and even the world!
