(Un)Qualified to Do God's Calling

DAY 3 OF 5

God Equips, Refines, and Strengthens

When Moses told God that he couldn't possibly speak to Pharaoh due to his "slow speech" and "slow tongue," God assured Moses He would help him and teach him what to say. God never left Moses to his own devices as he led the Israelites towards the Promised Land. He equipped and molded Moses over the years to be suited for His purpose.

I don't think God will ever ask you or me to lead two million people through the desert en route to the Promised Land while being chased by an angry mob of Egyptians toward the Red Sea. But if He did, we certainly wouldn't be able to accomplish the task independently. Success would only come from God's mighty power and divine intervention. God can do great things through seemingly unqualified people who recognize that God is greater than their weaknesses and fears.

We are mistake-making fools whom God loves intensely. God calls and chooses us despite our many flaws. He molds and refines our faults and imperfections along the way, as we continuously look to Him in faith. God's calling requires a deep dependence on and trust in Him alone, as we rest in His power.

God used Moses in amazing ways, and He wants to use you in amazing ways too. Keep your focus on God and His power and not on your human strength or weakness. Are you willing for God to use your faults to show His greatness? We are the clay, and God is the potter who shapes and refines us into a picture of His likeness while equipping us with His divine strength. Have faith that whatever God calls you to do, He will provide what you need to carry it through.
