Sacrifice: God Gives 100%

DAY 5 OF 5

God Gives Newness

Ready:

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Set:

A new season is always exciting. It’s a blank slate, a chance to form new bonds as a team, learn new plays and every hope for the best season possible is spread before us with infinite possibility. It is a chance to get things right, and start again, especially if the last season didn’t go the way we had hoped.

Newness has appeal. There’s a freshness to it that intrigues us, the chance to make a way where anything is possible and embrace the anticipation of what’s to come. We want this in our athletic career season after season, but there is also a longing inside us for the what if in our lives, a chance to begin again with our slate wiped clean.

Because you are loved, pursued and redeemed, Christ has made a way to create an entirely new life for you. Through the redemption of Christ, our old selves that were smeared with selfishness, stubbornness and pride have been discarded, with a new self in place. Christ in us empowers us to begin again, daily—hourly, if need be—and experience a new way of thinking and living with Him.

All the old worries, habits and actions evaporate away in the light of relationship with God. The wonder guides us, leaning on the guidance of Christ as we begin to see new ways to care for ourselves, our teammates, our families and our neighbors.

We’ve traded in our old life for the new. This life is filled with adventure, mystery, abundance and more than we could imagine. The world rusts and fades, but as we know God deeper, our spirits renew and grow brighter with Christ’s light. Our hope in Him gives us the extra encouragement we need to walk with Him every day and see what He has in store. With God as our companion on the journey, why should we settle for anything less?

Go:

1. Where do you need a new beginning?

2. In what ways can you see God’s work in your life in new ways?

3. Try something new and ask God to reveal what He wants you to learn through it.

Workout:

Lamentations 3:22-23; Galatians 2:20; Revelation 21:5

Overtime:

What a blessing it is to be a new creation in Christ! Thank You that now we can live in this new way of thinking and acting, with Christ in us. I want to look at life as an adventure with You and be open to new surprises that You bring along the journey. Amen.
