Navigating The Impostor

DAY 4 OF 7

The King Without Confidence - Part 1

Kish was a wealthy man who owned a lot of land, animals, had a lot of servants...the whole nine! He had a son, who we are told, was handsome and tall. If the average man was about 5'11", Kish's son was about 6'7" or taller. He had everything and needed nothing.

One day, Kish realized some of his donkeys had run away. So, he told his son, "Take one of the servants and go find the donkeys."

The son and servant went searching for the donkeys but couldn't find them anywhere. They were getting ready to go home when the servant made a suggestion.

"Hey, I hear there's a man close by who has visions. I think he can help us find the donkeys."

As they enter the town gate, they see a man. They stop to ask him for the "vision guy."

The man responds, "That's me. I'm the 'vision guy. '. Glad you made it. We're going to have lunch, and then I'll help you in the morning. Oh, and don't worry about your donkeys. They're good. As a matter of fact, everything valuable in Israel now belongs to you and your family."

Saul recoils...yeah, we're talking about Saul, the guy who just found out he was going to be pretty important.

"Why are you telling me this? I'm from the smallest tribe in Israel, and my clan is the least important in the tribe..."

Let's go back to the story of Gideon for a moment. When the angel approaches Gideon, he says nearly the EXACT thing that Saul says. Gideon was from Manasseh, and Saul was from Benjamin.

What is it about these men? Why is it that when chosen for something great, they immediately went to the my-tribe-is-the-weakest-and-my-family-isn't-important card?

The impostor uses old tricks. It doesn't have any new games. And most of all, the impostor only knows the language of lies.

Once you understand the language of the impostor, you place yourself in a position to win. God has already placed you in position. He didn't give you a spirit of fear, but of LOVE, POWER, and a sound mind.

Use it to navigate the impostor.
