Go2020 Kids Action Steps: Pray! Love! Share!

DAY 1 OF 3

Go2020 Kids’ Action Steps: Pray! Love! Share!

A disciple means to be a follower of Jesus. Jesus had twelve disciples when He walked this earth, but He wants everyone to be His disciple. You don’t have to wait until you are grown up. When you pray for others, love others and tell others about Jesus, you become His disciple.

Go2020 Kids is a global movement that invites children everywhere to be a disciple of Jesus. Think of five people you know. Write down their names and begin to pray for them each day. Think of ways to show God’s love and share His message. For the next 3 days we will learn how to simply pray like Jesus, love like Jesus, and share like Jesus so that together we can change the world.

Challenge #1 - Pray like Jesus

Jesus loved to pray. He loved spending time talking with His Father in heaven. In Luke 11:1 His disciples asked, “Lord, teach us to pray.” You can find Jesus praying throughout Luke’s gospel.  Luke shared about Jesus praying more times than all the other gospels combined; that’s Matthew, Mark and John. (See Luke 3:21; Luke 5:16; Luke 6:12; Luke 9:18; Luke 9:29; Luke 10:21; Luke 11:1-4; Luke 22:39-46; Luke 23:34-46).

When we pray, we spend time with Jesus, and when we spend time with Jesus, we become more like Jesus. He fills us with His Spirit. His Spirit helps us pray and reminds us that we are His forever

When we pray, we show our love for Jesus and those for whom we pray. Think about times someone has prayed for you and how that made you feel. Maybe you were sick or scared. When you pray for someone, you are inviting Jesus to make things better.

Jesus loves when you pray. One day Jesus’ disciples asked, "Jesus, who is greatest in your kingdom?" Find out Jesus’ answer by reading Matthew 18:2-5.

First, Jesus made children the standard for greatness when He told His disciples that unless they become like little children, they won’t enter heaven. Jesus wants us to have child-like faith. Faith makes Jesus happy. Read Hebrews 11:6.

Secondly, Jesus said we must be humble like a child, then we will be great in God’s kingdom.

And finally, Jesus told His disciples, "when you welcome a child in My name, you welcome Me."  Do you think Jesus thought kids were pretty special? He sure did, and He still does today!

ACTION STEP:  Write down 5 people to pray for by name each day.
