We Are More Than Safe in God’s Hands

DAY 4 OF 6

God Is For You

“If God is for us, who can be against us?”

If Romans is the greatest book in the Bible, and chapter 8 is the greatest chapter in Romans, then Romans 8:31-39 is the high point of Romans 8. In some ways, this passage is the “Mount Everest” of the Bible.

At the outset, there are four powerful words: “God is for us.” There is an ocean of love and grace in this brief sentence. It is a power-packed summary of God’s heart toward us. God is for us. God the Almighty, the Sovereign, the infinite and eternal God. He is for us.

He is for us. He adores us. He wants the best for us. He is on our team. He is your biggest fan. He is for you in the same way you are for your children or grandchildren or favorite person in the world. He is for you big time. Since God is for us, who can be against us? This doesn’t mean that no one is against us, because the demons of hell are against us, and perhaps some humans too. The point is simply that it doesn’t matter who is against us, because God is for us.

We all know the pain of rejection. A parent who didn’t have time for us. A spouse who betrayed us. A friend who turned from us. A boss who fired us. Rejection is so painful that the human heart can barely survive. But God will never reject us. Never. You may reject him, but he will never reject you. He is for you in a way that no one else is.

David understood this truth. That’s why he could write, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” (Ps. 23:1)

That’s why he could write, “I will fear no evil for you are with me.” (Ps. 23:4)

That’s why he could write, “Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Ps. 23:6)

Dear friend, let these words sink deeply into your soul. God is for us.

We Are More Than Safe in God’s Hands

One of the most important feelings for human beings is the feeling of security. From the moment of birth, we need to know that we are not in danger. When we grow up, that security is threatened by different circumstances...
