Getting To Know The Real YouSample

Have you ever tried to pick up the remote with your feet? You might get it eventually, but you could have grabbed it faster and with a lot less work if you’d leaned over and used your hands. 

Hands were made for grabbing and feet for balancing, and sure, you can balance on your hands or grip with your toes. But accomplishing a task is easier when each part of the body is doing what it was made to do. 

The same is true in the church. Paul, one of the leaders of the early church, compares church members to parts of a body (1 Corinthians 12:12-13). Though we all worship the same God and have received the same Holy Spirit, we each have different gifts and abilities. 

God gave you a purpose when He made you. The things you’re good at, the things that fire you up, and the experiences you’ve had — none of this is an accident. 

You bring something to the body of Christ that no one else can. The same way that ears let us hear and lungs let us breathe, you bring abilities to the church body that allow it to function with greater ease.  

God designed us to be part of a team. We suffer together and celebrate together because we know we need each other to accomplish the God-sized mission we’ve been given.
