[Who's your One? Series] On Earth, As It Is In Heaven

DAY 1 OF 6

God’s will – He wants everyone to be saved

Prayer puts us in contact with God. It connects heaven and earth. As soon as we say, “Our Father,” we know for sure that God is listening. In Matthew 6:9–10 Jesus says, “This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’” (NVI).

As children of God, we understand firsthand what His kingdom is all about:

1. Righteousness—We have been justified before God, even though we were guilty of sin, because of Jesus’ life and death at the cross.

2. Peace—After being justified, we are at peace with God, nothing condemns us anymore, we are no longer enemies of God.

3. Joy—The result of the first two.

Think about the implications of God’s kingdom coming to your life. Do you remember how you felt when you first heard the good news about the gospel? Can you remember how amazing it felt when you heard that because God so loved the world, He sent His only Son to save you and me?

Now, I would like you to hold that thought and emotion for a moment and realise that God sent His only Son to die for the entire world. Not just you and me, but all of us. The Scripture tells us that God wants everyone to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:3–4).

The salvation of the whole world was His plan since the beginning of time. God’s love for us is eternal, and as His children, we are part of His eternal plan and purpose to reveal to the world how much He loves us.

Jesus gave His life as a ransom for all people (1 Timothy 2:6). This is wonderful news! Nevertheless, if you look around you, most people you encounter every day are helpless, in constant fear, and they hardly ever experience joy. They cannot trust anybody to set them free from feeling and living this way.

To put it in the apostle Paul’s words, “But how can people call for help if they don’t know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven’t heard of the One who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them? The point is: Before you trust, you have to listen. But unless Christ’s Word is preached, there’s nothing to listen to” (Romans 10:14–18) MSG.

My question for you today is this: Are you willing to share the good news about the gospel of Jesus Christ with those who have never heard of it?

[Who's your One? Series] On Earth, As It Is In Heaven

We often wonder about our purpose in life. Jesus does not call us because we know how to do everything. Our primary call is to follow Him—ministry is an overflow of our daily walk with God. Jesus chooses those who are wi...
