Christmas: The Divine Interruption Sample

As we conclude our journey with Jesus coming into the world, we need to recognize the essential role that the Holy Spirit played in these important events. To begin, it’s noteworthy to consider that Elizabeth, John the Baptist and Zacharias were all filled with the Holy Spirit during the months of Elizabeth’s pregnancy and birth.

Consider the following verses:

John the Baptist: “For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; and he will drink no wine or liquor, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while yet in his mother’s womb” (Luke 1:15).

Mary: “The angel answered and said to her, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God’” (Luke 1:35).

Elizabeth: “When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit” (Luke 1:41).

Zacharias: “And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied...” (Luke 1:67).

As we finish our time together, reflecting on Jesus’ birth, I leave you a few parting challenges:

• Let’s continually exalt and magnify Jesus, regardless of the season of the year or circumstances in which we find ourselves!


• May our awareness of our need for the Holy Spirit to participate in our lives increase, so that God’s supernatural plan for us can be revealed, exalting God with dazzling glory!


• Let’s continually encourage those around us who are endeavoring to walk out God’s promises in their lives!
