Living Every Day With The Opposite Life In Mind

DAY 2 OF 3

The Opposite Life Pleases God

When we encounter the unconditional love of Jesus and realize that it is by grace that we have been forgiven, everything about our lives should change for the better. Jesus promises that we become a new creation when we receive Him as Lord and Savior. Our eyes are open to a new way of living, and everything begins to change when these new ways are applied. Repentance is the entryway of this new life. To repent means to turn away and go in the opposite direction, back to our original design as sons and daughters of God.

Living in the opposite spirit enables us to live victoriously, with great power and abundance. If we live life God’s way, our lives will flourish. For those who oppose God’s way, their lives will not flourish unless they repent and turn from their ways. When our responses in life please God, we are reflecting His nature and not the nature of our flesh. If we discipline our lives to obey the Word of God, we will gain a peace that transcends understanding and receive a reward from doing things God’s way. And Scripture promises that when we obey, goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives (see Psalm 23:6).

We have been given the secret to a powerful and abundant life that promises blessing and favor. Not a perfect life, but a blessed life. A life that sees the goodness of God in the land of the living. A life where our marriages are blessed, our children are blessed, and our careers and callings are blessed. I propose this life exists, and that it is enjoyed by living according to the principles of the kingdom of God as laid out in the Bible and lived out by Jesus. The kingdom of God is, at its core, God’s way of doing things.

God’s way of life never promises to be perfect or free of adversity, but He does promise that if you follow His principles, you will reap what you sow, you will not be in lack, you can overcome fear, and you will live an abundant and beautiful life. It will be a life full of freedom, joy, and love. A life where you can overcome every situation and live in peace. Peace! Isn’t that what we all want? A beautiful life blessed on this side of eternity.

As we follow Jesus example, moving in the opposite spirit, God promises an abundant life here on earth now. We choose God’s way of doing things by following Jesus’ example. As we admit our weakness and humble ourselves, God shines through our lives. As we deny ourselves of things in our world that distract us from God, we are rewarded by God. As we choose to love, rather than hate, God uses us to show His forgiveness in the world and our hearts are free from Satan’s hold. God’s ways often don’t look the way we imagined them, but He surprises us over and above all we could ever dream (see Ephesians 3:20–21).

What does it mean to you to know that God is pleased when you choose to live for Him?

What does it look like in your life to live God’s way? How has your life changed after putting faith in Jesus?
