30 Days In The Gospel Of MarkSample

30 Days In The Gospel Of Mark

DAY 28 OF 30

Thought:

Jesus endured great shame to save us. His clothes were removed and He was crucified. (Crucifixion was a Roman form of killing someone by hanging them on a cross.). The soldiers gambled on who would get to keep each article of His clothing. They hung Jesus next to two sinners. All the people who saw Him, including the religious leaders who planned His murder, mocked and insulted Him. They made fun of Jesus for saving other people but being seemingly unable to save Himself. But Jesus did not let their hurtful remarks stop Him. He willingly stayed on the cross. He chose not to save Himself precisely so that He could save others.

1. What did the soldiers do to Jesus?

2. What did the sign with the written charge against Jesus say?

3. How did the people watching Jesus be crucified insult Him?

4. What did the two sinners being crucified alongside Jesus do?

Engage:

We have seen throughout this 30-day challenge, especially in the last few days, that Jesus went through great suffering to save us. He did so because He loves us. Such a wonderful gift inspires us to say thank you. Write down 5 reasons you are thankful for what Jesus did for you on the cross.

Deeper Waters:

Read Mark 15:16-20
