DAY 7 OF 86

NUMBERS 32:
Yesterday in the book of Numbers, we heard of the conquest of the Midianite people. That story is an example of how hard it is for us humans to follow God's instructions.

PSALM 45:
Today we read Psalm 45. This poem may have originally been intended as a wedding song for King Solomon, but from our vantage point we can see that it is really a song of praise to our King, the Messiah, and we— the people of God, are the bride.

ACTS 5a:
Yesterday in Acts chapter 4, we heard of the fearless praying of the believers after being commanded to no longer teach about Jesus. And we heard of the wonderful unity of spirit among them.

Let’s pray before opening God’s Word.
Oh Lord Jesus, I am tempted to pray like the one who wrote Psalm 44, and to accuse You of not working now like You worked in the past. But I don't really think that's true. Lord, I want You to reach out your hand and perform miracles of healing and wonders that would glorify Yourself, Lord Jesus. But I think You ARE doing that already, but we don't have eyes to see it! When you do it, we don't notice. Lord, help us to notice! Give us eyes of faith to see what You are doing. And secondly, You don't do those miracles for us because we're not like the people who were in the story in Acts 4. THEY said, “Allow us, your servants, to speak your message with boldness.” THEY said, “Here I am, send me!” But we say, “Here I am, send someone else.” Lord, help us that we will become your servants. We repent, Lord, at our lack of trusting You, and we ask You to use us in the way that You want. Lord, I know that for me and my listener, You'll have to start slowly. Help us to begin, and to take the first steps today.
