How To Fulfill God's Purpose For Your Life

DAY 2 OF 7

BE TRANSFORMED

Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” To “be transformed,” describes what is done TO YOU. It literally means to be changed from the inside out.

As Christians, we’re working so hard to change; yet God says this is not something done BY us, but rather something that is done TO us. I call it the “gift of change.” We renew our minds, and then He transforms us. This word “transformed” comes from the Greek word: “metamorphoo.” You can easily understand where the word “metamorphosis” stems from. It literally means: to change into another form. God transforms us into something else as we meditate on His Word. We see a picture of this transformation in the caterpillar and the butterfly. We will look at this metaphor more closely in a moment.

Good News: You don’t have to try to bring yourself into God’s perfect plan or purpose for your life. God brings it into you—what a demonstration of God’s grace! In fact, if we read on into Romans 12:3, I love what the Message translation says at the end of this verse—tying in this thought so beautifully well—

“…No, God brings it all to you. The only accurate way to understand ourselves is by what God is and by what he does for us, not by what we are and what we do for him.” (Romans 12:3, Message)
