Day 13 | Moving Forward

Is there a prayer constantly on your lips or do you pray only when you have a need?  

It wasn’t long ago that I received a call from a friend.  I knew she sounded familiar but I couldn’t place the voice.  I talked with her for a while and a few minutes into the conversation I finally realized who she was.  I don’t think she even knew I was struggling to connect, but from my end the conversation changed completely once I realized who I was talking to.  Once I knew her.  We were friends.  It had just been a while since we’d talked.

I have another friend I talk to all the time.  She happens to be my sister-in-law and we happen to have children not too far apart in age.  We get together for lunch, go to a cool boutique, take a walk or at the very least talk on the phone.  We chat about everything from our life goals to the best new color of lipstick.  We share lunch, laughter, crafts, fashion tips, good ideas, and tears.   There have been times that I’ve called her and have literally been silent.   All I have to do is say her name and she knows who I am.  She can sense when I’m down, she knows when I hurt and she steps in to do everything she can to help me along.   When good things happen, she shares my success.  She knows everything about me and she loves me.  She makes a point to spend time with me and she would never, ever be a ‘no-show’.  That’s connected.  And that’s what God wants with you.

Do you have a friend you’re connected to?  

Why do you think you’re connected?  How much time do you spend together?  What do you allow him or her to know about you?  Now list the ways you are connected to God.  Compare the two.  

If your phone rang today and it was God, would you recognize His voice?

What can you do to strengthen your connection to Him?  What areas of your life do you withhold from Him?  How often do you talk to Him?  Write down some specific ways you can move toward a closer relationship with Him.

He wants to be your God.  

He wants to be your friend.  

He wants to be your guide. 

He wants to be your Vine.

Thank Him today for loving you.  

Thank Him for calling you to this closer walk with Him.  

Commit, today, to this life-long transformation.
