God’s Plan For Your Life

DAY 3 OF 6

How do you discover God’s plan for your life?

If you’ve ever run a race, you know it’s important to keep the right pace. If you go too slow, you’ll easily get behind and people will pass you. If you go too fast, however, you might get exhausted quickly and not have the strength to even finish the race.

Finding the right pace while running a race can be challenging. Fortunately, when it comes to our Christian life, we have someone who sets the pace for us.

Galatians 5:25 says that we should “live by the Spirit and keep in step with the Spirit.”

If we’re supposed to keep in step with the Spirit, that means that the Holy Spirit sets the pace for us. We shouldn’t lag behind or run ahead—we’re supposed to stay in step.

When we stay in step with the Spirit, He provides us with wisdom and discernment to help guide our decisions. Proverbs 3:6 says that when we submit to Him, He directs our paths and helps make them straight.

Okay, that all sounds great in theory. But how do we actually stay in step with the Spirit?

Here are three ways to start:

1.) Seek God through His Word. Because you’re reading this Bible Plan in the Bible App, you’re clearly on your way to doing this already! Make it a habit to read God’s Word every day. There are lots of different Bible Plans you can start, and if you need accountability, you can do with them with your small group, too!

2.) Pray regularly. Don’t let the idea of prayer intimidate you. Prayer is simply talking to God, and then listening to Him. If you get distracted easily (like we all do), it’s helpful to open the Notes app on your phone and write down what you want to pray about.

3.) Stay in community. Staying in step with the Spirit means being around other like-minded Christ-followers. The best way to do this is by staying consistent with your small group and attending church regularly. Even better: start serving somewhere at church. You’ll meet new people and develop deeper friendships with other Christians.
