Focused Fighting

Have you ever noticed that when life gets hurried, things become blurry? So often, our fast-paced lives and ever-increasing demands consume so much of us that we can’t see straight. This lifestyle is deadly because it leaves our minds with very little capacity to recognize and fight off life’s lies. 

To combat this, we have to learn to focus on God and where He is calling us. This is what will truly satisfy our hearts. To start, ask God to show you two or three areas that He wants you to focus on. For example, right now, He is pointing me toward Him, my family, and my community. 

As He shows us what is most important, He will also show us what is keeping us from it. Even though I enjoyed it, I had to cut out social media and some ministry positions because both were distracting me from what God was asking me to focus on. Even good things can keep us from the great things God has for us. 

As we bring focus to our lives, we have more capacity to fight for our identity and freedom. We begin to strip ourselves of the labels we think bring us power and protection and replace them with what will really protect and strengthen us. We replace them with God’s armor: truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and His Word, the Bible. 

These may seem like odd and foreign weapons at first, but with practice, these allow us to fight like we’ve never fought before. Instead of temporarily harming our spiritual opponent by obtaining revenge or getting the last word, we can win the war. God’s truth defeats Satan’s lies every time! His armor holds us close and aligns us with His plan, allowing us to walk in freedom. 

God not only loves us, He lives in us. By getting rid of the distractions, we give ourselves the room we need to breathe, focus, and fight for what truly gives freedom and life. God, in you, gives you the power to fight. So, fight!
