God's Redemption Story (Genesis)

14. NAP A(Z) 25-BÓL/-BŐL

God gave hope to Abram shortly before forming a covenant with him. A covenant to make him into a great nation, a covenant that he would have offspring more numerous than the stars in the sky. Despite being quite old and not yet having a single child, Abram believed the Lord and entered into this covenant with him. In this covenant conversation, God told Abram of some of the struggles and trials his people would go through, including 400 years of exile and slavery. God offered hope, comfort, and reward to Abram, even knowing that the road wouldn’t be easy. He didn’t offer Abram an easy path, a straightforward track to success, or removal of every trial, but He did offer Him security through the Lord. Abram chose to believe God even when it seemed impossible, even when he couldn’t see exactly how he would get there. We’re told in Genesis 15:6 that this faith was credited to Abram as righteousness. God’s faithfulness is not defined by the easiness of our path but by His consistency as He walks through it with us.
