The Whole Story: A Life in God's Kingdom, Part One

Daily Reflection: Mark 1 provides a fascinating account of the beginning of Jesus’ ministry. After his baptism in the Jordan River by John the Baptist, Jesus overcomes the temptations of the enemy, announces the good news of the Kingdom of God, and then calls his disciples to follow him. It is interesting to note how ordinary of a day it was for those who were called into ministry with Jesus. In particular, Simon and Andrew were carrying out their daily work as fishermen when Jesus confidently asked them to follow him. Daily Demonstration: Today may seem to be another ordinary day – but sometimes the most ordinary days are the ideal times for everything to change for the better. In what way is Jesus calling you to follow him today? Perhaps there is no better time than now to put down something that is holding you back from what God desires to do through you or your family. As you prepare for the fast, make this a point of emphasis in your prayers: “Jesus, how can I follow you more closely?”
