726 BC Isaiah predicts that Assyria will sweep through Philistia. Nahum warns Assyria and the Northern Kingdom that God will break those who work against Him. Note 1 (2 Chronicles 29:3): Ahaz had closed the Temple and worshiped Assyria’s god (2 Chronicles 28:23–24). Hezekiah in the first year of his reign, 727 BC, repaired and reopened the Temple. Note 2 (2 Chronicles 30:1): Hezekiah invites the remnants of the northern tribes to take part in the Passover festival, the first national celebration of the feast since Solomon’s reign.
