God tells the Israelites not to murder. We see through other passages in the Bible that God doesn't just mean for us not to kill each other, but that we should not do anything to harm other people. Every person is created by God and for God, and he loves them as much as he loves you. In Matthew 5, Jesus tells us that we should even be careful not to be angry with each other! God wants us to care for other people, and to love our neighbor even more than we love ourselves.
