Here for It: A Reading Plan for Ministry Leaders and Humans Investing in the Faith of the Next GenerationSample

As leaders, the weight of our roles and responsibilities can feel overwhelming. As ministry leaders, the idea of how to carry all of this well becomes complicated. We are doing our best to invest in the faith and futures of others, but sometimes we forget about our journeys. What would it look like for you to accept Jesus’ invitation to a yoke that is easy and a burden that is light today? Sure, your tasklist won’t suddenly get checked off, and Sunday is still coming. . but would you walk a little lighter? Would you breathe a little deeper? Would you rest a little better knowing that you are not working for God’s nearness but from it? This week, as we consider what it means to be “here for it” as next-gen leaders, what if we stopped for a moment to remember that Jesus invited us to be here with him? He spoke to our weariness and promised to give us rest. He understood burnout was real and invited us to find respite in His presence. He knew that following him would not just be a decision to check off but a lifelong journey. Sure, we may have first started following Him years ago, but today, we’re reminded that the invitation to this kind of rest, restoration, and refreshing is one He extends to us every day. What would it look like for you to be present with Jesus today? Maybe it’s taking 5 minutes right now to stop, breathe deeply, and delight in his presence. Maybe it’s writing down all that is weighing you down in a note on your phone and then asking God for help. It could even be taking a stroll at sunset today to remember that the One who created this beautiful world also created you. Today, find at least 5 minutes to experience the refreshing presence of God in a way that best suits you. As you choose to be here for staff, volunteers, students, and/or kids, remember that Jesus invites you to be here with Him…not just once but every day.
