My life changed 35 years ago when I heard the Helper whisper in my ear, “Buck, if you want to have influence in the lives of others I want you to spend the first hour of each day with Me.” It wasn’t a demand it was just a flat statement with a faint promise. I was, and for many years had been, a leader but my life was changing and I knew instantly what the Helper was talking about. I had been challenged to spend morning time with Him by people that I respected and I had tried to do so several times but failed as I had been unable to sustain the practice. Somehow I knew that this time was different and I committed to start the next day. I wanted more of God. More obedience. I wanted to go deeper to produce more fruit. I did start the next day and have never looked back. The Helper gave me two keys to hang on to to be consistent in meeting with Him and I still use them every day. They will work for anyone who sincerely wants God’s will and even His anointing and is willing to press on with the Helper’s help. This is a great example of how obedience seems to have a significant cost on the front end but the truth is that it never really does cost. Father always rewards obedience, always but not always right away. There will come a time when we realize that what we thought was costly was actually the best blessing God could provide. How about you? How well do you know the Helper? Can you hear His voice? More importantly, do you want to? Have you ever prayed to Him asking Him to be all to you that He can be and longs to be? Can you pray to Him and worship Him as we do our Father and His Son? It’s never too late to start you know. He’s been in you since you trusted Jesus to save you. Just waiting for you to invite Him to be Your Helper along the narrow way. It’s your choice, the ball is in our court. God made His choice and provided all we need to realize our destiny in Him. We can squander our lives and chase the values of this world, but that’s not what we’re created for, that’s not the narrow way. The narrow way leads to the life we are meant to have and help is only a prayer away. It can start as simply as this ”Even now come to me Holy Spirit, fill me and direct me in the Father’s will day by day and moment by moment until He calls me home to be with You forever.” Amen.
