Defy Your Limitations

DAY 6 OF 7

God calls each of us to live a life outside of ourselves. You may have been part of a church culture that viewed self-confidence as a negative trait, believing that self-confidence takes away from placing our confidence in God. But it’s the opposite of that misguided belief that is true. We know that we are created in the image of God and personally commissioned to be rulers of all creation. Why should we not have confidence in that? The Bible tells us who we are – pieces of fine artwork uniquely made by God. Like a proud parent, God has your picture on His fridge and smiles because He made you. Now, if the source of our self-confidence is anything other than the fact that God made us and is with us, then we will be disappointed. Furthermore, our self-confidence doesn’t mean we are to sit on the sidelines in awe of how amazing we are. Our self-confidence should motivate us to get in the game and take the necessary actions to reach our full potential. Many people feel paralyzed by fear and unable to start their journey; confidence is what will give them that ability to get up, get out, and achieve what God has created them to do. Believing in yourself is critical to your effectiveness and productivity. What possible sense does it make for God to promise us His backing, blessings, and favor if He will demoralize us for winning and prospering? Successful athletes will never have a self-defeating attitude. An athlete who desires to win must have a winning disposition. This means that before the athlete wins on the field, they must win in their mind. Believing in yourself has a lot to do with your thinking. It is a “can do” mentality. If I believe that I can, then I will. If I believe I cannot, then I will not. Allow your heart and mind to be transformed and carry yourself like you have a purpose and mission because that’s what God has given you. Stop walking around as though you are inferior to everyone around you – your God has created you for a purpose and with a purpose. God calls you a member of a chosen priesthood, a royal nation. There is no need to walk around defeated because we are children of the Creator of the Universe.
