DAY 8 OF 10

## Left Alone? > I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. All I have is yours, and all you have is mine…I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. > John 17: 9 – 11 (ESV) When I was a young boy, my uncle once brought me to a cinema, and after the show, he had totally forgotten about me and left me all alone in the cinema. My family eventually returned and retrieved me, to cut a long story short. What an unforgettable experience! In John 16 and 17, Jesus told His disciples about His impending departure, and I believe the disciples probably felt the same way - that they were about to be abandoned. They felt frightened, alone, and unable to understand what was happening. Don’t we feel the same when we are down? God seems to lead us to a place of change or discomfort. We scarcely realise that God is actually leading us to a higher, newer, and greater relationship. Jesus knew their concern, and He prayed to the Holy Father that as “they are still in the world…protect them by the power of His name”. God is not saying that He will protect us FROM all troubles, but He promises to protect us, not only IN all our troubles but also THROUGH our troubles. ### Prayer Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for praying for me. Thank You that I know Your prayer is being answered and that You will keep me to the very end. Amen.
