Twice the Philistine army seeks to capture David, and they plunder the Rephaim Valley. But David does what God commands and is able to defeat the Philistines. Reflect Today’s reading includes signs of blessings for David: the provision of materials, workers for the palace, international fame, the birth of thirteen children, and military victories in the defeat of the Philistines. To whom does David attribute his success and prosperity (verse 2)? Before attacking the Philistines, what did David ask of God? What was God’s response?
