Suit Up

DAY 2 OF 6

You’ve Been Recruited Yesterday, we learned that if you’re following Jesus, you’re automatically recruited to help fight the invisible war between good and evil. Does the idea of being in a war make you feel a little uncomfortable? It would feel really uncomfortable if you knew you were fighting on the weaker side in a war. But, guess what? If you’re walking in God’s love and truth, you’re on the winning side! Watch this video for a bit more on that. Our spiritual enemy, the devil, tempts us. He accuses. He lies. And—he loses! Spoiler alert: We know God wins. With this knowledge, it’s time to take a stand. Trapped by temptation? Stand in God’s strength and say no. Sinking in shame? Stand in God’s nonstop love and receive forgiveness. Listening to lies? Stand on God’s truth and speak it. Evil has no power over you because the mighty power of God is in you. Today, you’ll read from Ephesians chapter 6 again. Pay special attention to pieces of God’s armor—your special gear! They’re all yours. Let them cover you so you can stand strong each and every day! Ask yourself: Which do I need to focus on standing strong in the most today: God’s strength to fight temptations, God’s love to fight my shame, or God’s truth to push back lies? Challenge yourself: Take a stand! Literally, if you can. Stand up on your feet and say your answer to the question above. “I choose to stand in God’s __________.” Every time you feel like you’re slipping back into old thoughts, go somewhere you can be alone with God, literally stand strong, and say that sentence again! Pray: God, thank You for giving me the tools I need to fight evil. You help me to stand strong. I don’t have to fight with my own strength! Thank You for the way You protect me, encourage me, and keep me going even when I have battles to fight. In Jesus’ name, amen.
