The New Testament in 90 Days

DAY 10 OF 90

Introduction to Mark Even though Mark is the second book in the New Testament, it was actually the first gospel written. Scholars say it was written sometime between A.D. 55-65. Mark was written both to Gentile and Roman believers, and because of that, many Jewish customs were explained in his book. Most of Mark’s gospel was quoted by the other gospels. Mark, also called John Mark, went with Paul on his first missionary journey. He is believed to be a disciple of Peter, one of the 12 disciples of Jesus, and also a cousin to Barnabas. Since Mark wasn’t an eyewitness of Jesus, he wrote this book based upon the accounts of Peter.
