DAY 12 OF 48

Psalm 23 was the first Psalm which I knew by heart as a child. No matter if you grew up among Christians or not, you have probably already heard of Psalm 23, for it is one of the best-known Psalms. In this passage we are once again given an Old Testament picture of the good shepherd. When Jesus presented himself as the good shepherd, he drew on the typical imagery found in this Psalm. Much of this imagery was engraved in my mind during my childhood. Today I consciously take off my distorted “childhood glasses”, and ask God for a new perspective of this Psalm for my current situation. Holy Spirit, what new thing would you like to reveal to me through Psalm 23? I have everything I need if I put Jesus at the center of my life and let him, the shepherd, guide me then I will lack nothing. I have access to God’s provision and peace, which he wants to give me in all situations of life. Wow, such promises! It doesn’t matter in what phase of life or in which situation you are — put Jesus at the center of your life and you will have everything you need. You have everything you need! If you’re a single mother, who’s struggling to cope with everything: let Jesus be the center of your life. If you’re facing challenges in your career: put Jesus at the center. If you are tired and exhausted from life: put Jesus back in the center, because he can refresh you. You have everything you need! If you’re being given responsibility that you feel is too much for you: let Jesus guide you, and you will have everything you need. ## ACTION STEP: 1. Pray this Psalm in relation to your situation, adding your name, your challenges and what you need the shepherd to do for you. 2. Are there areas in which you don’t let Jesus shepherd you? Do you have any idea why that is? ##### Miriam Hilliger – ICF Berlin
