Jumpstart Your Finances

DAY 4 OF 7

## Save for the worst, hope for the best and pray for the rest. God does not promise that our lives will be easy or free from financial difficulties. There will be wars, famines, natural disasters, and recessions. God has told us we need to be prepared for them. It isn’t a matter of if you will encounter an emergency or expense, it is just a matter of when. You cannot control when your car’s brakes need to be replaced, when the refrigerator quits working, or if your pet swallows a golf ball. I want to make this important point: saving is not a sin if you are not saving because of fear or greed, or because you are trying to become independent from God. Yes, it can be foolish to store up earthly treasures thinking you alone can provide for your financial security; remember that God expects us to be good stewards with the resources He entrusts to us. By saving for short term emergencies, we can be better prepared for God’s good works. Someone wise once told me that you are either dealing with a crisis, coming out of a crisis, or one is on its way. I believe you should always plan for the worst, hope for the best, and pray for the rest. Not always in that order.
