### Woman at the Well - Part 5 Thoughts on the Passage Harvest time. Jesus says it is harvest time – people want the truth of Jesus and are willing to accept Him. However, in the physical world, harvest time comes in another four months. Four months before harvest time – is planting season! In the physical world – it is time to plant the fields; in the spiritual world, it is harvest time. If we look at people from physical eyes (they do not know who Jesus is, they do not understand what Jesus has done, they do not understand the Word of God…), we will miss the fact that many are now ready to put their faith in Jesus. Jesus tells the disciples, “get your eyes off of the physical world (need for food and not talking to this woman) and look at what is happening in the spiritual world.” Jesus gives a principle of spiritual harvest. God’s people work together for the spiritual harvest. Some people have worked hard to plant and prepare the ground for the word of God. We join them at this moment because it is harvest time, and there is a lot of work to be done bringing in the harvest. We all work together, even though different people are responsible for different aspects. People believe because they see. The town people heard the testimony of the woman – but they believed when they saw Jesus. Bring people to Jesus. Our testimony is wonderful, but Jesus is the one who releases blessings that draw people. It is the same when He left Samaria and went to Galilee. The people saw what Jesus did in Jerusalem – and they received Him gladly. People need to see Jesus. They need to see Him with spiritual eyes – not just physical eyes. People in his hometown did not accept Him. Why? Because they knew who He was physically – a young man that grew up around them. They could not get past what their physical eyes told them. How do I see Jesus? Application Take time and ask God to show you what is happening around our world – in the spiritual realm. It may be very different to what we see with our physical eyes. Ask to see if the ground is barren – we need to break up the hard ground with prayer and fasting. Ask if the fields need rain (the latter rain produces the harvest) – we pray for His Spirit to be poured out into the lives of people. Ask if it is harvest time – we need labourers and a willingness to work hard to bring in the harvest. How do I see people? Do I just see their skills, limitations, financial limitations, personality problems…. Do I see them the way God sees them? Ask for spiritual eyes to see people (and even ourselves) the way God sees them (us). Time to Pray Father, today I take time to pray and ask You to reveal my world to me. Show me what it looks like from the spiritual perspective. Is it time to sow? It is time to pray for an outpouring of Your Spirit’s rain? Is it harvest time? Father, there is not time to waste. I want to work at exactly what needs to be done. I do not want to waste time and effort doing something when it is not the season for that work. Let me see what is needed in each person’s life – and help me to release it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
