Anthem of Grace

DAY 5 OF 5

You probably know Queen’s stadium anthem, “We Will Rock You.” It’s rallied crowds around the world, from Super Bowls to the World Cup. But did you know that Queen didn’t even think people would like it That’s why they put it on the B-side of their album, the place where you put all the songs not thought to be chart toppers. Today I want to bring you some lyrics from the song “Amazing Grace” that you may have never heard... but that you definitely don’t want to miss. Think of it as grace from the B-side. "Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace." Are you familiar with those words? Not exactly the poppy lyrics of a number-one single. But the promise they share can see you through anything in life. Let me break it down for you: Because of Jesus, there’s no scenario where your story doesn’t end in victory! No matter what this life brings your way, you can stand on the promise that when it’s all said and done, you’ll find yourself safe, loved, healed, made whole, and filled with joy and peace in God’s presence. That’s what Jesus secured for you when He rose from the grave and conquered death – life to the fullest. When you put your faith in Jesus for salvation, you receive the promise that not even death gets that last word in your story. Billy Graham said it like this: “For the believer there is hope beyond the grave, because Jesus Christ has opened the door to heaven for us by His death and resurrection.” The door to unending, unbroken life is wide open because Jesus went through it first. He conquered the grave, and in Him, you can too! That’s why Good Friday – and Easter Sunday – are such joyful celebrations! But in case you think this sounds like escapism…focusing on heaven so you don’t have to hurt so much here on earth, take a look at what Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 4:16–18: “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes on what is seen, but what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (NIV) Do you see the power of this promise? The hope of heaven strengthens you for the journey you’re on today. It reminds you that nothing this world throws at you can rob you of the home God has prepared for you – and that God will use the pain of this world to shape you into the person He created you to be. You have strength for today, purpose in your pain, and joy in the waiting. So don’t lose heart, because Jesus has already won! Blessings, Nick Hall
