What Courage Looks Like

DAY 2 OF 7

God will not fail you or abandon you, so you can be courageous through Him. Sometimes when you’re afraid, people can make you feel bad about it. They don’t mean to, but have you ever heard someone say, “Don’t be afraid”? It’s good advice, but sometimes it can be hard to follow. But here’s the thing. Having courage doesn’t mean you’re never afraid. If that were the case, none of us would be courageous. Behind every hero there are days of training and preparing for the unknown, but even heroes are still scared and freaked out about what could go wrong. So, it’s okay if you’re afraid. But you can’t live in fear. There’s a difference. Being afraid isn’t a bad thing, but sometimes you have to do what you’re afraid of even though you’re scared. The good news is that when you follow Jesus, you get to trust that He is with you and will never leave you. You might still be scared. But we are never alone when we’re afraid. Check out today’s video about that: What are you afraid to do but need to do? Ask God to help you, and then do it. There’s this story in the Old Testament of the Bible all about God inviting His people to enter the promised land. But it was really scary, and a lot of obstacles stood in their way. When they got nervous, God would remind them not to be afraid because He was with them. In fact, after a really important leader named Moses died, a younger leader named Joshua had to take over the mission and lead the people to the promised land. He was terrified! But God reminded him several times that He was with him, and because of that, Joshua led the mission anyway. He did it afraid. So, what will you do? What fear will you overcome and ask God to help you with? Remember that God will never fail you or abandon you, so you can be courageous through Him.
